I have a 15-month-old little boy and am contemplating getting pregnant with my second and was just browsing the most popular baby names of 2011.
Here is the full list of names or you can just take a look at the top 10:
- Sophia
- Isabella
- Emma
- Olivia
- Ava
- Emily
- Abigail
- Madison
- Mia
- Chloe
I know several baby Emmas (although one is Emma Mae which I think is too cute, I also like Emma Cate) as well as several Isabellas in some form or another (Izzy, Bella, etc.). One name I was surprised was nowhere on the list of 50 was Beatrice. My son had two, count them TWO, Beas in his baby class! I couldn't believe it.
The name we like for a girl is far down on the list, which is great. My son's name is also far down the boys list which I like.
Here's the list and the top 10 for boys:
- Jacob
- Mason
- William
- Jayden
- Noah
- Michael
- Ethan
- Alexander
- Aiden
- Daniel
The only one I can say we know a lot of is Aiden. Is this all the craze because of the
character on Sex and the City?? If so, that is amazing. I personally know two Aidens and an Aidan (incidentally his sister's name is Nadia which is his Aidan spelled backward).
Isn't it amazing how names trend over time? Check out
this great site where you can see how your own name has trended over the years. It's also interesting to
check out popular baby names in other countries.
